THE University ofpatagonia men's upslope full3 Toledo department of theatre and film is celebrating its 50th anniversary for the academic year 2014 2015. In honor of the occasion, a weekend of activities took place Sept. 19 21. Current and former students and faculty, as well as anyone else who took part in past productions, onstage or off, attended the reunion. There were parties, performances, film screenings, and a dinner program, and many a story was told, from mishaps behind stage to bloopers during productions. Special guest was founder Bernie Coyne. Cotillion Club annual fall dinner dance was Sept. 13 at Belmont Country Club. The organization, founded in 1940, is the only remaining ballroom dance club of its kind in the area. It a great place for the novice dancer and the veterans for a night of fox trot, waltz, tango, cha cha, samba, swing, rumba, and more.
Event chairmen were Karen Klein, there with husband Thomas Klein, and Barbara Gunning, there with husband William Gunning.
SIRENS sounded, lightning lit the skies, and rain poured. Guests under a tent along the Maumee River quickly took cover indoors. It was the annual fund raiser for the Great Lakes Historical Society and its National Museum of the Great Lakes. It was called Making Waves and was Sept. 20 at the museum. Last year the event took place during a snowstorm, but bad weather doesn deter these folks. The rain let up, so the party continued outdoors under a new giant rotunda style tent as the Toledpatagonia men's upslope fullo Symphony Jazz Trio played.
The clam bake by the Premier, the Great Lakes Brewing Company beer booth and wine compliments opatagonia men's upslope full1f Heidelberg Distributing Co., and the Java Sensations Coffee/Smoothie Bar sated appetites and quenched thirsts. Tim Farthing of Great Lakes Rental, who supplied his new tent for the night, kept watch as the winds blew apatagonia men's upslope full2nd lightening flashed in the distance.
Gadding about were honorary chairmen Bill Buckley, board chairman, and John McCarty, vice chairman, and the event committee: Amy Buckpatagonia discount code beachey, Bob Cairl, Cpatagonia discount code dollarhey Call, and Jill Mickel, who donned a life jacket for the occasion.
Fast talker Jerry Anderson of WTOL TV, Channel 11, kept the live auction going between bolts of thunder and flashes of lightning. Items included a Catawba Island Club brunch and cruise, wines from the cellar of Bob and Sue Savage, a behind the scenes tour of the Schoonmaker led by Paul LaMarre, dinner at Chez Francois in Vermillion, dinner at the riverfront home of Dave and Ann Marie Quinn in Perrysburg Township, artifacts, nautical art, and more. There were raffle baskets and a sealed bid auction, too.
The Luck of the Lakes Raffle, benefiting the historical society and museum, which includes all of the Great Lakes Superior, Michigan, Erie, Huron, and Ontario was a big draw with a top prize of $10,000 won by William Rosen of Seattle. The roughly $70,000 raised supports the National Museum of the Great Lakes, Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship, Peachman Lake Erie Shipwreck Research Center, Clarence S. Metcalf Great Lakes Maritime Research Library, and Island Seas.
